West Coast Futbol Club – United States Soccer Development Academy (DA)

The U.S. Soccer Development Academy is a National Team Training program and competition conducted and administered by the United States Soccer Federation. The Academy philosophy according to U.S. Soccer is: “More training, higher quality training, less games and more meaningful games with proper rest ratio.”

West Coast Futbol Club has been recognized by U.S. Soccer for their sustained ability to develop nationally recognized teams and players. West Coast FC will continue serving as an “Academy Club” for the under-12 (2006) age group for the 2017-18 season. West Coast Futbol Club has adopted the developmental principles outlined in the Development Academy Regulations and Technical Framework for the “Development Academy Team”. The program will focus on the following: individual player development within the team concept, improving the quality of coaching for players, shift away from a results-driven philosophy, and most importantly promote a holistic approach to develop respect, personal responsibility and positive lifestyle habits.

When: December 27-30th 9:00-12:00pm – 12 total hours of training.

Where: J. Serra High School small sided fields near the back parking lot.

What: Shooting, Passing, Foot Skills and Possession games will be taught.

We will focus on different styles of shooting and passing techniques with both feet. Bending, chipping, power, placement, volleys, driving a ball are all examples of the types of shots/passes that will be taught. Possession games will be played to give players a chance to take risks using the foot skills taught at the camp. Passing skills will also be incorporated into all applicable activities.

Players will enjoy being part of a small group that will receive detailed attention from the coach. We will strive to have no more than 14 players per coach to assure each player is being taught properly and given unique attention.

Players can come dressed in any appropriate soccer attire (shin guards and cleats required). Players should also bring a ball, water only (no sports drinks allowed on the turf) and healthy snack. A detailed schedule of the camp will be sent out after registering and submitting a payment.
